A full-time PhD position (4 years) in Philosophy is available at Scuola Normale Superiore (SNS) in the framework of the Italian Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The position is fully-funded and exclusively focused on research (no mandatory teaching).

The PhD position starts on 1 November 2022.
The scholarship – “Aesthetics and ecology: philosophical approaches to the protection of biodiversity” – will mainly be aimed at forming a scholar capable of addressing the issues related to the ecological transition with the theoretical and methodological tools of environmental and ecological aesthetics. These very recent fields of investigation promote, within the more general framework of Environmental Humanities, a bridge between scientific and philosophical knowledge, focusing on the links between aesthetic cognition, environmental-landscape heritage and human well-being with the aim of providing novel conceptual tools in creation and promotion of biodiversity protection strategies. In addition to ensuring training in philosophical research that integrates traditional historical analysis skills with the most original vectors of contemporary research in the logical-epistemological, aesthetic and ethical-political disciplines, the scholarship aims to train professionals with rigorous analytical skills capable of work, also within interdisciplinary teams, to solve current environmental challenges.
